Conservation and Collections Officer
Glynn Vivian Art Gallery
City and County of Swansea
Directorate of Place
Cultural Services
Swansea, United Kingdom

RG 0962 Salary Grade 7 UKP22,937 - UKP26,293 per annum

This is an exciting opportunity to join Glynn Vivian Art Gallery,
one of Wales' key public galleries, located in Swansea, Wales, UK.
We are seeking to appoint a Conservation and Collections Officer for
the newly redeveloped gallery due to re-open in summer 2016.

As part of our Collections team, the purpose of the post is to
undertake conservation either in the specialism of easel
paintings/or works on paper, and to manage preventative conservation
for the collection as a whole, whilst assisting the gallery team
with conservation planning for our future programmes.

This is a senior management post and offers the opportunity to
contribute to new initiatives for the Gallery's future. You will
have a good understanding of long term care issues in your
specialist area with excellent interpersonal skills to provide
accessible expert advice, and demonstrable practical experience.

Founded by Richard Glynn Vivian (1835-1910) with his bequest of fine
and applied art, the Gallery first opened in 1911. The collection
continued to grow throughout the 20th Century including modern
painting and sculpture by Hepworth, Nicholson, and Nash alongside
Welsh artists such as Ceri Richards, Gwen John and Augustus John,
continuing with contemporary art today.

The permanent collection is complemented by our Exhibitions
programme, which brings the work of today's artists alive with its
sharp, contemporary overview of the arts, providing a platform for
artists in Wales to present their work in a local, national and
international context. The Gallery also has a lively Learning
programme which focuses on meeting the needs of diverse community
audiences with an open, engaging and transformative approach to
participation.

The next two years will be a transformational period for the Gallery
as we move back into the redeveloped building, re-install the
collections and prepare our future programmes.

Closing date for applications: 5pm, 23 October 2015
