Permanent, full-time

The Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki is the home of visual arts in
New Zealand, with a collection numbering over 16,000 works.  We have
more than 12,000 works on paper, including outstanding collections
of works by Henry Fuseli, Jacques Callot, Giovanni Battista Piranesi
and Stefano Della Bella.

As a Paper Conservator at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki, you
will contribute to the safe stewardship of the gallery's collections
of art and its reputation, by promoting and facilitating the care
and conservation of the paper-based and photographic collections.
You will provide specialist conservation expertise to carry out
research, stabilise and treat paper-based and photographic artworks,
to enable their full appreciation and support their accessibility.
In addition, this position contributes to the exhibitions programme
and promotes the care of paper-based and photographic artworks to
the wider community.

To be a success in this role you will have:

     A relevant and recognised tertiary qualification in the
     conservation of works on paper and photographs

     Experience in the complex treatment of unique and irreplaceable
     works on paper and photographs

     Preventive conservation experience within a museum-art gallery
     context

     A good understanding of cultural conservation principles and
     ethics

     Be eligible for full membership in the NZCCM
