The Image Permanence Institute at the Rochester Institute of
Technology in Rochester, NY is seeking a Preventive Conservation
Specialist.  The Preventive Conservation Specialist will provide
information and guidance to a range of cultural institutions on
preventive conservation, the role of environment in preservation,
and best practices for sustainable environmental management, through
a variety of consulting, outreach (teaching and publication),
research, and technical support activities.

Candidates should have training and experience in the field of
preservation and a strong interest in preventive conservation,
managing the environment for preservation, and sustainable
preservation practices.  Five years relevant work experience in a
museum, library, archive, or other cultural institution focused on
collection management, preservation, or conservation is preferred.
Teaching or presentation, writing, and project management skills are
required.  Candidates should have an advanced degree in
Conservation, Preservation Administration, Library Science, Archives
Management, or Museum Studies.  Candidates must be willing and able
to travel frequently, both nationally and internationally, and to
work within mechanical rooms and mechanical systems.  Scientific
research experience is also desirable.
