The positions are open to persons residing in Canada and Canadian citizens residing abroad. The intent of this process is to staff three (3) positions on a determinate basis, for a period of one (1) year each. A pool qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department (CCI) with various language requirements (English or French Essential) and with various security clearances. Duties: Participates in textile or fine art (paintings) or furniture (and decorative art) conservation and restoration treatment projects; provides basic information on preventive conservation for textile or fine art (paintings) or furniture (and decorative art) collections to clients; assists in applied research to contribute to the development or modification of techniques, methodologies or tools used in textile or fine art (paintings) or furniture (and decorative art) conservation treatment; participates in the preparation and delivery of seminars, workshops and conferences; assists with in-situ surveys and examination of museum facilities and collections; drafts written reports and publications; reviews relevant literature; participates in general lab routines and maintenance. For all streams: The applicant must have recently* completed a university degree or a minimum two (2) year college diploma from a recognized** post-secondary institution, in a conservation program. * "Recent" is defined as within the last 5 years. ** A "recognized" post-secondary institution is one that has provincial or territorial degree/diploma-granting status, or a university/college outside Canada of which the programs/degrees are accepted by a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution. Applicants that pass the preliminary screening criteria will be asked to submit a portfolio of recent conservation treatment projects. Candidates who then meet the essential screening criteria may be invited to an interview. Candidates will also be assessed through references. You must ensure that you select at least one employment type when submitting your application: Employment is for a one (1) year appointment at (General Technical) GT-01 rate $40,989 to $46,141.
