Assistant Paper Conservator Tate Reference: TG1178 Band: 4L Salary: UKP24,000 per annum Department: Conservation 9 Months Fixed-Term, Full-time Reporting to: Paper Conservator Location: Millbank, Bankside and Southwark, London Tate is committed to promoting public appreciation, awareness and enjoyment of British art from the 16th century to the present day, and of international modern and contemporary art. We are seeking an Assistant Paper Conservator to work within our Paper Conservation team in support on Tate programme areas. This role involves assessing, documenting and treating art works within the Collection. You will support all related programme activities and working closely with the Paper Conservator to plan activity and workload. You will hold a recognised qualification in the Conservation of Works of Art on Paper and have demonstrable experience treating and stabilising a broad range of artworks. It is essential to have analytical and problem-solving skills, organisational and planning skills, and to be an effective communicator. You will need to accurately estimate treatment and framing requirements, work independently on conservation treatments and provide specialist advice for storage, packing, transport and installation of works of art works. A high degree of computer literacy is required and experience with historic and contemporary works of art on paper and experience working in the museum sector is desirable.
