Lecturer in Wall Painting Conservation The Courtauld Institute of Art Fixed Term appointment for five years - to start as soon as possible Part time 0.50 FTE UKP34,859 - UKP39,976 pa pro rata (including London Allowance) The Courtauld Institute of Art is the UK's leading institution for teaching and research into the History of Art and the conservation of paintings and is also home to one of the finest small art museums in the world. The Courtauld's Conservation of Wall Painting Department provides MA students with multidisciplinary education in critical approaches to and methods of wall painting conservation. A substantial portion of the three-year MA (about 50%) involves fieldwork (currently all abroad) and research. The post holder will take a lead in the planning, implementation and supervision of Departmental field projects, and in the supervision of MA student fieldwork and its assessment, and will contribute to the teaching of the theory and practice of wall painting conservation on the MA in the Conservation of Wall Painting. The Lecturer will have an MA in Wall Painting Conservation, as well as a commitment to research, typically reflected by the pursuit of a PhD. The post holder will also have knowledge and experience of supervising MA-level wall painting conservation students in fieldwork contexts, including diagnostic investigations, recording, remedial, passive and preventive interventions, and professional practice.
