Assistant Conservator for Preventive Conservation National Gallery of Art Washington DC The National Gallery is pleased to announce that it will be accepting applications for a Museum Specialist (Art) bearing the job title of Assistant Conservator for Preventive Conservation. The job series and grade are GS-1016-11, with a starting salary of $63,722. This is a federal position and only open to those holding U.S. citizenship. The major responsibilities include overseeing and adhering to conservation-related agreements for works of art lent to the National Gallery of Art special exhibitions. The incumbent ensures stable environmental conditions, proper display, handling, and packing of loans, as assigned. Duties include travel to lending and borrowing institutions for extended periods of time to complete condition reports and assure the proper care of objects owned by and lent to the National Gallery of Art.
