Subject: Results of survey on preservation statistics
We are pleased to announce the release of the FY2014 Preservation Statistics Survey Report: <URL:http://www.ala.org/alcts/sites/ala.org.alcts/files/content/resources/preserv/presstats/FY2014/FY2014PreservationStatistics.pdf> Eighty-seven institutions responded to the FY2014 Preservation Statistics Survey, facilitating the analysis of preservation activities for fiscal year 2014 (as defined by the respondent's institution) and the evaluation of trends in conservation, collection assessment and digitization / exhibit prep, general preservation activities, reformatting / digitization, and digital preservation activities. This year we focus on trends in digitization, particularly in the area of audiovisual materials reformatting and preservation. The FY2014 Survey data set is also available for download, and--new this year--we are releasing the Total Library Expenditure (TLE) scaled data for 2012-2014, helpful for tracking trends over time while accounting for the varying respondent pool. The Preservation Statistics Survey is a project to document and analyze the preservation activities of cultural heritage institutions in the United States. The Preservation Statistics Survey is an effort coordinated by the Preservation and Reformatting Section (PARS) of the American Library Association (ALA) and the Association of Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS). For more information, visit the Preservation Statistics website: <URL:http://www.ala.org/alcts/resources/preservation/presstats> Let us know how you are using the Preservation Statistics reports and data. The Preservation Statistics website will host ongoing efforts to document how the field uses preservation metrics, including materials from the recent ALA Annual 2015 PARS Forum on Preservation Metrics. We are collecting stories about how this program and the long legacy of the ARL Preservation Statistics data is helpful in program planning, budget requests, other advocacy and research. Contact us: preservationstatistics<-at->gmail<.>com Thanks to everyone who participated in the FY2014 Survey. The FY2015 Preservation Statistics Survey will be released in January 2016. Until then, count what you do and show preservation counts.
