Areas of Responsibility Leadership of and organizational responsibility for the museum's conservation workshops, which currently employ eight conservation specialists Development and implementation of a master plan for all collections Independent development and preparation of conservation and restoration plans for ethnological and archaeological objects, especially objects made out of composite materials Carrying out especially difficult conservation and restoration work on delicate organic and/or inorganic, especially composite objects With regard to conservation and restoration, collaboration in the logistical planning and execution of the transfer of the museum's collections to the Humboldt Forum [new exhibition spaces in the rebuilt Prussian palace in the city center] as well as the relocation to the museum's new storage facilities Coordination and supervision of the conservation aspects of the museum's loan program Independent research in the areas of conservation science, technology, and the history of technology Development and supervision of research projects Development and maintenance of cooperation with research institutes and institutions of higher learning Requirements Completed degree from an internationally recognized program in objects conservation or equivalent professional experience Thorough knowledge of and proven multi-year work experience with the conservation and restoration of organic, inorganic and especially composite objects of cultural and historical importance Experience in the development of conservation and restoration methods, including accomplishment of research projects An established record of academic publications in the areas of conservation and restoration Experience in project management Leadership experience and the ability to motivate employees as well as issue-related assertiveness Very good written and spoken German and English Experience with MS-Office, good planning and organizational skills Exceptional ability to effectively communicate and teamwork Desired Qualifications Museum experience Experience with the museum documentation system MuseumPlus The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation is an equal opportunity employer under the German federal law on equality.
