Gyumri, devastated by the damaging Spitak earthquake in 1988, is still recovering, and its unique historic buildings require urgent attention. Volunteers will work to evaluate and ensure the longevity of a number of the city's 1,200 endangered structures identified as historically and culturally significant. Hands-on work will include essential documentation: taking measurements and photographs; drawing; and gathering written and verbal data. Participants will acquire hands-on research and documentation skills during their first eight days in Armenia, and will spend the final four touring the country with Travel Gyumri.
