The role: The Academic Services Division in the Library is responsible for the delivery and evaluation of information and research skills, development programs and online learning materials. As Manager, Rare Books and Special Collections you will be tasked with overseeing the traditional curatorial, collection development and asset management responsibilities and beyond those activities, to include the identification and delivery of creative responses to raise the visibility and profile of the collections in support of the University's research, teaching and community engagement programs. This includes the design and implementation of coherent digitisation programs to optimise exposure of the collections together with fundraising and related activities to enable those programs to be delivered. The position includes the development of local provisions and guidelines appropriate to the nature and value of the managed assets. The person: Your extensive experience in the development, management and curation of rare books and special collections coupled with the ability to exploit a range of technologies relevant to increasing digital access and discoverability of these collections will set you apart. You will see yourself as innovative individual and will relish the opportunity to create and develop a range of ground-breaking initiatives and engagement programs that will serve to support the University's wider education and research strategy. A born networker, your entrepreneurial flair for developing project proposals and securing funding will see you excel in the post. With three direct reports (a small team of professional and paraprofessional librarians), your track record in developing cohesive, high performing teams will also stand you in good stead.
