The J. Willard Marriot Library seeks innovative applicants for the
position of Assistant Director of Special Collections.  This is a
tenure-line position that reports to the Associate Dean of Special
Collections and supervises the day-to-day activities of the Special
Collections Division.  In addition, this position is directly
responsible for the Special Collections Print and Journal
Collections including Western Americana and oversees the Manuscripts
and Multimedia Departments of Special Collections composed of
archival research collections focusing on Utah, the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Intermountain region, and the
American West.  This position also oversees the Rare Books
Department and rare book and Middle East catalogers.  This position
assists the Associate Dean with oversight of the operational and
financial budgets for Special Collections and coordinates activities
with other library departments, university departments, and with the
State of Utah's collecting institutions.  This position will also
assist the Associate Dean with fund-raising and grant-writing
opportunities.  Occasional weekend and evening work will be
required.
