"Appearance and Reality: Examining Colour Change in Paintings"
Icon Paintings Group Conference
The Clore Gallery
Tate Britain
9 October 2015
10am-5.30pm

The Paintings Group are delighted by the interest shown in this
fascinating conference to date, and tickets are selling steadily.
The conference will cover various aspects of colour change in
paintings and historic and modern pigments, with an outstanding line
up of speakers, including: Marika Spring on colour change in old
master paintings (The National Gallery, London), Larry Keith on the
restoration of paintings with colour change (National Gallery,
London), Troels Filtenborg on the fading of Prussian blue in Danish
golden age paintings (National Museum of Denmark), Ella Hendricks on
colour change in Van Gogh's paintings (University of Amsterdam),
Jens Stenger on the Rothko virtual restoration project at Harvard
(Yale), Bronwyn Ormsby on colour change in modern paints (Tate),
Joyce Townsend on micro-fading (Tate) and Joseph Padfield on light
and fading (National Gallery).

We would now like to extend a call for posters, giving conservators
an opportunity to showcase their work or research related to this
topic at this significant event. If you would like to be
considered, please forward a short proposal or abstract to the group
secretary on icon.paintingsgroup<-at->googlemail<.>co<.>uk no later than 31
July 2015.

Those selected will then be asked to prepare an A3 or A2 sized
poster and to submit an electronic copy using Microsoft Office Word
no later than 18 September 2015. There is no set format for the
content, but it should be remembered that there won't be an
opportunity to pitch the posters orally, so please make sure they
are self-explanatory and as simple as possible with bold text and
plenty of photographs/diagrams.

Registration for this event is now open--book early to avoid
disappointment. Tickets prices are:

    Members UKP75
    Non-members UKP95
    Student members UKP45
    Student non-members UKP65

Ticket price includes lunch and refreshments (not at registration).
Afterwards we will be holding an evening reception from 5.30-7pm in
The Clore Gallery. Two free drinks vouchers (wine or soft drinks)
will be included in the delegate packs and are included in the
ticket price.

Tickets can be purchased by following the link below to the
Eventbrite page. We look forward to seeing you there
