Subject: Starch ethers
The German University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim (HAWK) is planning a symposium about the use of starch ether in the field of conservation. The following product names are known for this material: Kollotex, Solvitose, Emsize and Emsol. Currently it seems to be that only Kollotex 1250 is on the market. It is well used in the textile industry because it allows a better attachment between textile fibers than using cellulose ether. At the department of painting conservation of the HAWK Kollotex 1250 is used for fixing of cracks. Who is using this material and for what? What are your experiences?
