Subject: Modern printing ink
I have a query about a particular ink printed on white paper from the 1970's to mid 1990's. The documents are simply text printed on paper. The ink is causing the leaves to adhere to adjacent leaves. One document printed over several leaves essentially becomes a block of paper where the leaves are all stuck together. Any attempt by the Archivists to separate the leaves results in the ink transferring onto the back of the leaves above. When put back together the ink will adhere to adjacent leaves again. The documents can be interleaved with acid free tissue but this does not stop the ink from repeatedly transferring onto the tissue when it is accessed. The text has not been typewritten. I would be interested to hear from anyone who knows more about this ink and how others have chosen to house such documents with similar characteristics.
