Tattoo removal lasers

Probably everyone knows that tattoo removal lasers are of the same
spec as conservation lasers but 1/10th of the price--in fact they
are more or less derived from such lasers.

However, has anyone actually used them on cultural heritage and if
so, are there any drawbacks in using these cheap cosmetic ones? For
example, are they sensitive/not so robust when used as a portable
outdoor device?
