8th Nordic Conservation PhD Student Colloquium Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences Bulevardi 31 00180 Helsinki Auditorium Arppe V013 Old Chemistry Building, 0 floor 19-20 November 2015 The Degree Programme in Conservation is pleased to announce the eighth Nordic Conservation PhD Student Colloquium for the current and aspiring PhD students in the conservation training institutions, hosted by the Degree Programme in Conservation, the Helsinki University of Applied Sciences. The aim of the Colloquium is to give postgraduate research students primarily in the Nordic programmes the opportunity to present and discuss their current research with their peers and programme faculty, and to benefit from such an exchange. It will allow sharing of ideas and information amongst PhD candidates and programme faculty in an informal environment. The Colloquium seeks to create a Nordic forum for debate and exchange of ideas in research with relevance to the conservation / restoration of cultural heritage. Furthermore, it provides a venue for PhD students to meet, interact and form future collaborations with other PhD students. The Colloquium is open to the current and aspiring PhD candidates, their supervisors and other academic staff involved in research training in the conservation programmes at the University of Oslo, the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, the University of Gothenburg, the School of Conservation, Copenhagen and conservation programmes abroad. All current and aspiring PhD candidates who wish to participate will be asked to give an oral presentation in English (20 minutes), of the progress in their current PhD research. Those who have attended in previous years are encouraged to present an update of their research. All presenters are asked to submit an extended abstract (300-500 words) for circulation to the participants in advance of the meeting in order to provide discussion of presentations.
