The Los Angeles County Museum of Art invites applications from
qualified paintings conservators for a full-time position as
Assistant Paintings Conservator.  This is a fully funded 3-year
position that will be renewed each year pending review of work
accomplished.

Duties: The Assistant Conservator will focus on gathering and
organizing technical information for a catalog of Old Master and
19th century paintings that have been given to LACMA by The Ahmanson
Foundation. The collection consists of approximately 130 paintings
including works by Rembrant, Bellini, Veronese, Guido Reni, Watteau,
and Millet. In addition, the Assistant Conservator, as part of the
staff, will work on restoration projects and assist the staff with
loans, new acquisitions, and exhibitions.  LACMA's paintings
collection spans from the 14th Century to contemporary art.  The
Assistant Paintings Conservator will report to and be supervised by
the Head of Paintings Conservation

Qualifications: Completion of a graduate training program with a
specialization in paintings conservation and at least 2 years of
professional experience is required.  Applicants should have
experience in the examination and treatment of European Paintings
using standard tools as well as advanced methods performed with
Conservation Scientists.  They should be able interpret findings in
oral and written English, knowledge of technical and art historical
literature and research skills is necessary.  Applicants should
demonstrate experience in planning and completing examinations and
restorations of paintings from minor to major complexity.
