The Norwegian Aviation Museum is Norway's national museum of
aviation history and in charge of Aviation History Society
Norway.The museum is located in Bodo.  It opened in 1994, and has
annually 45,000 visitors.  The museum is involved in research,
publication, collection, conservation and restoration, and is widely
recognised both nationally and internationally.  The museum's
collection consists of 18,000 artefacts, including 34 aircraft, in
addition to archives, photographs and other documentation.  The
museum is in a very exciting development process for the future.  We
wish to expand and develop our high-quality collections and make
them more available and interesting to a broader audience, and we
are looking for candidates who show dedication and enthusiasm for
this kind of approach.  An objects conservator is responsible for
the museum's management of aircraft and other types of objects.  The
work is carried out in collaboration with the museum's staff and
museum volunteers, other museums in Norway and abroad.

Applicant requirements:

We are looking for candidates who:

    Have a University Master's degree (or recognized equivalent) in
    object conservation-restoration or another relevant field.

    Have relevant experience from museum or cultural heritage work.

    Have a keen interest in aircraft and aviation.

    Have good management skills and who collaborates well with many
    different types of people.

    Communicate well and excel at inspiring others and building
    relations.  Candidates must be proficient in both written and
    spoken English.  International applicants who do not speak
    Norwegian, must be willing to complete language instruction to
    learn the language.

    Have basic knowledge of computers and current social media.

    Have a driver's license.

Job description and responsabilities:

Responsibilities: The object conservator is responsible for managing
the museum's collection of artefacts, including all tasks and
resources related to this.  The objects conservator must work to
support the museum's general objective of making its collections
available to a broader audience, disseminate knowledge and
contribute to build social and professional networks.

Typical tasks include:

    Collection development--acquisitions and disposals of artefacts

    Collection care--conservation, restoration and storage of
    aircraft and other artefacts

    Documentation

    Contribute to making our collections available to the public,
    including registration

    Acting as a hub in the aviation history community, including
    international relations.  The museum has built a considerable
    network of volunteers, which we are seeking to further expand in
    the future
