On May 6, 2015 at 6:30 pm, Conservator-Analyst of Art and Heritage
John Scott will speak on several late 19th to mid-20th century
plaster architectural sculptures made in New York City. John will
draw on his art historical and technical studies of these plasters'
patronage and production, especially their finishes, and from his
records of their conservation.

Most of the subject artworks are still accessible to view in New
York City, in public schools, or in a museum, and two frolicking
satyr gargoyles inhabit their own beautiful and historic premises,
at the Salmagundi Art Club of New York. Visitors may greet this
remarkable pair literally hanging out between the Club's Lower
Gallery and the Bar, just past the downstairs Dining Room.

Plan to arrive well before the lecture, or to stay late On public
program nights non-members are welcome for dining (kitchen 5:30-8:30
pm) and/or libations (5-9:30 pm), checks and credit cards preferred.
SACNY's art-laden galleries, hallways and parlor are usually open to
the public Mon-Fri 1-6 pm, Sat-Sun 1-5 pm
