Senior Collections Care Conservator Science Museum, London Three year fixed term contract, full time UKP27,000 to UKP31,000 depending on knowledge and skills Are you a talented, passionate and experienced Collections Care Conservator? We have a unique opportunity for the right person to play a direct and significant part in the development of new exhibitions in what is a very exciting time at the Science Museum with major exhibitions that will transform the museum, its buildings and the way our three million visitors experience the Museum's collection, galleries and facilities. The Science Museum has world class scientific, technological, engineering, transport and medical collections. We have an active programme of temporary and touring exhibitions and an ambitious programme of permanent exhibitions, which puts our collections at the heart of everything we do. We are recruiting a Senior Collections Care Conservator join our Conservation team. You will be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment, communicating effectively, clearly, concisely, and persuasively. Projects in development include permanent Mathematics and Medicine galleries, as well as exciting new temporary and touring exhibitions. You will line manage the team of Conservation Assistants and provide up to date collections care advice and guidance to all projects at the Science Museum and to other Science Museum Group sites. Your will ensure the museum is a safe environment for visitors and staff by leading on collections hazards management for exhibition and storage activities. You will take a strong lead in the site's preventive conservation programme, including display specifications, collections salvage, integrated pest management and environmental monitoring. You have a good knowledge of Health and Safety procedures, including risk assessment and safe use of chemicals for lab safety and collections management. The ability to use Collections databases is essential.
