A Symposium in Conservation Science held with support from the
Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

The Department of Conservation and Scientific Research at the
British Museum will host a one-day symposium on 25 September 2015 on
the subject of metalpoint drawing.  This symposium will feature
technical research recently carried out on metalpoint drawings from
the Museum's collection in preparation for the exhibition 'Drawing
in Silver and Gold: Leonardo to Jasper Johns' to be held from 10
September to 6 December 2015. This research will be placed in the
context of other work being undertaken in this field, including
contributions from scientists, conservators and curators.  The
symposium will be conducted in English, and will include both oral
and poster presentations.

Call for Posters

We would like to invite abstracts for poster contributions on the
study of drawings made using blind stylus, lead-, silver- or other
metal-point.  Subjects might include:

    Imaging or analytical approaches to the study of drawings

    Methods and materials, including grounds for metalpoint drawing

    Case studies in the investigation of drawings

    Metalpoint and stylus underdrawing

Abstracts should include the full title of the poster, full name(s),
postal address(es) and email address(es) of the author(s) and a
summary of the poster in no more than 300 words.  The deadline for
the submission of abstracts is 1 June 2015.  See the website for
