UKP27,000 to UKP31,000 per annum depending on knowledge and skills

The Science Museum is seeking a flexible and enthusiastic Senior
Collections Care Conservator to manage the collections care and
conservation activities at South Kensington.  This will involve
managing environmental monitoring, Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
and disaster planning.  You will actively participate in delivering
objects and advice on collections care aspects of display, including
the exciting major redevelopment of permanent galleries as part of
the Science Museum's Masterplan.

You will line manage the team of Conservation Assistants and provide
collections care advice and guidance to other Science Museum Group
sites.  You will ensure the museum is a safe environment for
visitors and staff and that statutory requirements are met in your
capacity as Radiation Protection Supervisor and Collections Asbestos
Manager and by leading on collections hazards management for
exhibition and storage activities.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and actively
participate as part of the team being prepared to use your
initiative.  You will have demonstrable skills in problem solving,
which will be supported by your previous experience of collections
management within a museum or cultural heritage environment.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work across teams to
deliver projects and large exhibitions and of staff management and
work-planning.  You will have a high standard of project management
skills and be comfortable writing specifications for work.  You will
provide statistics, compile summary reports and promote high
collections care standards.  The ability to use collections
databases (e.g. Mimsy XG) and Hanwell is essential.

The Science Museum's galleries contain over 15,000 historic objects
and there's a further 200,000 in storage at our other facilities in
London and near Swindon.  This is a superb opportunity to work with

technology and medicine.
