The successful candidate will assist department head Mark Erdmann
with large projects, as well as taking on smaller projects under his
supervision. They will be responsible for client interaction,
estimating, project management, treatment, written documentation and
research relating to specific treatments. They should have
excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be strongly
self-motivated and organized in order to bring multiple projects to
completion concurrently and on schedule. There may also be
opportunities to assist in the Paintings, Paper or Textile labs
depending on the skills and interest of the candidate and the
projects in the lab. ICA is a regional conservation lab, with no
collection of its own, consequently we encounter a great variety of
projects reflective of the many public and private collections in
the region and beyond.

The department sees a wide range of objects including outdoor
sculpture and monuments. Recent projects have included works by
Claes Oldenburg, Tony Smith, Sol LeWitt, Henry Moore, and Manolo
Valdez. In the lab we regularly encounter glass, ceramic, and metal
artifacts, as well as wood, ivory, plaster, plastic and other
organic and inorganic materials.

ICA - Art Conservation, the nation's oldest nonprofit conservation
center, has conservators in paintings, paper, textiles and objects,
offering preservation and fine art services to museums, libraries,
public institutions and individual collectors. ICA is dedicated to
education, serving students in its art_at_work program and the general
public through community outreach and informal art and science
programs. ICA receives public support through Cuyahoga Arts and
Culture and Ohio Arts Council grants.
