Zein in painting materials

I would like to ask if there is any information on zein used in oil
paintings.  Several samples of paint layers and varnishes that I
provided for FTIR analysis gave peaks that matched that of zein.
Could there be additives containing zein in paint materials of the
mid-20th century?  Or would this be a misinterpretation?
