Subject: Workshop on ancient glass
The Art, Archaeology and Conservation Science Division (AACS) of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS), in cooperation with the American Institute for Conservation, is very pleased to announce a one-day workshop called "What's New in Ancient Glass Research? "This workshop will be held at the Hyatt Regency Miami, on Sunday May 17, 2015 from 9am until 5:20pm, following the AIC Annual Meeting (May 11-16, 2015) and prior to the Glass and Optical Materials Division (GOMD) of the American Ceramic Society annual meeting (May 18-21, 2015). The organizers are Glenn Gates, <ggates<-at->thewalters<.>org>, and Pamela Vandiver <vandiver<-at->mse<.>arizona<.>edu>. Attendees will learn about ancient glass compositions, conservation, technologies and manufacturing techniques. A demonstration of core vessel creation is a planned highlight of this workshop; the Hyatt will allow this oven demonstration on the outdoor terrace if it does not rain. The cost is $150 for ACerS members, and $270 for nonmembers (this nonmember rate does include annual ACerS membership). Registration includes a lunch and a nice reception from 6pm until 8pm at the Hilton Miami Downtown, sponsored by the GOMD To register, visit [ceramics.org/aacsworkshop]. Do so now; space is limited.
