Saving Ecuador's Vernacular Village Architecture Antiguo Convento de la parroquia de San Andres de Guano San Andres, Ecuador August 2-15, 2015 Cost: US$1,500 Adventures in Preservation (AiP), in partnership with Volunteer South America, is offering an opportunity to discover vernacular architecture and the traditional building techniques of Ecuador. Under the guidance of conservation architect and Volunteer South America Coordinator Juan Diego Badillo, participants will work to restore the Antiguo Convento de la parroquia de San Andres de Guano. This project aims to teach volunteers and community members alike the traditional building skills necessary to preserve the community's unique resources, using a significant site located within a religious compound whose history spans centuries.
