Subject: Imaging watermarks
Paper conservators at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston are interested to hear from fellow conservators regarding your methods for imaging traditional watermarks. In particular, do you still use a beta plate and film to capture a beta radiograph? Have you tried to capture radiographs with low energy X-rays? Have you used a beta plate in conjunction with a "digital" phosphor plate to receive the radiograph? We are currently navigating the transition from analog to digital radiography, and would greatly appreciate your ideas and suggestions. Margaret (Maggie) Wessling Claire W. and Richard P.
