Subject: Call for presenters--Symposium on Japanese tissue paper
Call for Presenters Japanese Tissue Showcase Icon Ethnography Group symposium Institute of Archaeology University College London Saturday 25 April 2015 The Icon Ethnography Group invites you to submit abstracts for short, informal presentations on your conservation treatments involving nifty and neat use of Japanese tissue. Japanese tissue has long been used extensively in the conservation of ethnographic and cultural artefacts, as a material for filling, backing, facing, and bridging butt joins, just to name a few. This versatile material has provided us with a wide variety of options for sympathetic and re-treatable conservation additions. We would like to call for presenters who are interested in sharing their case studies and examples of Japanese tissue applications in their conservation treatments. This symposium aims to gather not only new and innovative ideas but also tried-and-tested techniques performed well. Please come along, show off and share your satisfying colour-matching and tinting, effective way of pulping or lovely structural support. The format of your presentation (5-10 minutes) can be a mini-digital slide show/PowerPoint, a simple demonstration, use of printed images or photographs or be a combination of the above. With this we are hoping to facilitate skill-sharing and friendly discussions among participants to exchange tips and tricks. Please contact iconethnographygroup<-at->gmail<.>com with a brief description of what you wish to present and your intended format of the presentation by March 14, 2015.
