Subject: Conference on documentation
True North Conference: Recording the Past, the Present and the Future Timespan, Helmsdale, Scotland, UK 5-7 March 2015 Documenting is an activity that makes us human, that constitutes our culture in the past, the present and the future. The True North conference invites artists, researchers, curators, academics and the public to discuss best practice and new models of how to document in a remote, northern context. Keynote speakers include the research and design collective Lateral North and Peter Davidson, academic and author of The Idea of North. Documentation plays a role in preservation, research, evaluation, and innovation. Much of our work is concerned with documenting experiences, actions, facts and objects. Timespan is a cultural development organisation and a creative hub in the Far North of Scotland, in one of Europe's most remote areas. We provide a high quality venue and programme for people locally, nationally and internationally. Timespan's role is to preserve and display, to innovate and to create.
