This is a permanent full time position with a complete benefits
package.

The position will remain open until filled.

The Gerald R. Ford Conservation Center, a division of the Nebraska
State Historical Society, seeks a conservator to examine and treat
works of art on paper, documents, and other paper-based artifacts in
a regional conservation facility in Omaha, Nebraska.

Responsibilities:  The conservator will examine, prepare treatment
proposals, including time and cost estimates, and conserve artifacts
and collections from the Nebraska State Historical Society as well
as a broad range of public and private clients throughout the
region. S/he will provide preservation expertise and outreach,
participate in the Center's educational activities, and supervise
conservation technicians on paper conservation projects.

Requirements:  The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent
treatment skills for a broad range of paper based artifacts and will
have a strong foundation in preservation principles and practices.
Qualified applicants must have completed a graduate conservation
program specializing in paper conservation theory and practice, or
equivalent training and experience.  The position requires
organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as
adherence to the American Institute for Conservation Code of Ethics
and Standards of Practice.  A minimum of two years of post-graduate
professional work experience is required.
