The Washington Conservation Guild, the American Industrial Hygiene
Association, Potomac Section, and the Health and Safety Committee of
the American Institute for Conservation presents:

Respiratory Protection Lecture and fit-testing

On Thursday, February 19, 2015, at 5 pm at the Smithsonian American
Art Museum join us for the lecture portion by Lee Foley, CIH, CSP,
Director, Health and Safety EQM and Current President of the Potomac
Section AIHA

The meeting will be held at the MacMillan Education Center
Smithsonian American Art Museum (F Street entrance) 8th and F Street
NW, Washington DC Gallery Place Metro (Red/Yellow/Green lines)

This is a new benefit offered to WCG members who do not have access
to this through their work. This is a 3-part process:

Feb 19, 2015: Respiratory Protection Lecture (required before
Fit-Test Session) General information on care, maintenance and
proper use. The critical element is selecting and using the
right type of respirator and filter/cartridge to abate the
specific chemical or particulate hazards a conservator is faced
with. Recommendations for making these assessments (local
industrial hygiene/safety services; respirator vendor resources)
    will be discussed.

Medical Clearance (on your own, required before Fit-Test
    Session)

Certification from your health provider that you are medically
cleared to wear a respirator (forms and instructions to be
provided at the Feb 19, 2015 lecture; scheduling with your
health care provider is your responsibility.

Mid-April, 2015 (TBD, probably on a Sunday) Individual
    Fit-Testing Appointments

Conducted by Certified Industrial Hygienists, in accordance with
OSHA protocols. Sign-up for time slots at the Feb 19, 2015
lecture. Do not purchase a respirator for this fit-test. A
selection of half-mask respirator models and sizes will be
available for attendee to try during the fit-test.

Space is limited, so RSVP as soon as possible to
rsvp<-at->washingtonconservationguild<.>org.  Include your name, your
institution or business name, business address, and email.

Note: If you already own a respirator and want to bring it to verify
proper fit, include the manufacturer and model number/type on your
RSVP sign-up.

RSVP deadline February 10, 2015

You must be a member to sign up. If you are not currently a WCG
member but would like to take advantage of this unique opportunity,
join or renew today on at

The cost of this test fit is $5, which will be collected at the
lecture.
