Subject: Call for contributions--STASH Flash
In May 2014 FAIC, launched the STASH (Storage Techniques for Art, Science and History collections) website designed to gather, organize and solicit new storage ideas. <URL:http://stashc.com> This project, in collaboration with the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC), and funded by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation is based on the understanding that the best ideas for safe and sustainable storage and support come from collaborative solutions. There are few tasks more concrete and practical than devising a storage mount that makes efficient use of an institution's human, financial and material resources to preserve collections. The 43nd annual AIC Meeting on practical solutions and "Making Conservation Work" provides a terrific forum for continued discussion about these topics. A STASH FLASH session has been scheduled on Wednesday May 13, 2015 as a late afternoon pre-session to the meeting. The session will utilize a lightening round or "Tips" session format as well as guided, audience participatory discussion. We are calling for contributions of short (5 minute) presentations about an innovative, efficient or sustainable storage solution to be presented at the session and then posted on the STASH website following the conference. Updates of solutions presented in the original SPNHC volume will also be applicable. This year, we would like to encourage presenters to show up with their solution in a ready format for uploading to the STASH website. To submit your ideas please send a short abstract including the following information to Lisa Goldberg <lgoldberg<-at->stny<.>rr<.>com> by February 2, 2015.
