Position at Historic Royal Palaces

From: Kerren Harris <kerren.harris<-at->
Date: Tuesday, December 17, 2013
Preventive Conservation technician
Hampton Court Palace with potential travel to other palaces

Permanent position (14 hours a week)

Once upon a time it was royalty who admired the magnificent objects
within the five historic royal palaces. Today, it is visitors who
come to discover the fascinating stories behind these unique
exhibits. To save these priceless artefacts for future generations
we need someone to join our team of highly skilled preventive
conservators

You'll already have an interest in historic houses and collections,
a keen attention to detail and some practical hands- on conservation
cleaning experience.

A good understanding of preventive conservation would also be a
bonus but not essential.

You will be part of the conservation team and take part in the
delivery of the day-to-day preventive conservation programme by
carrying out the hands-on conservation cleaning, explaining your
work to our visitors and working with extremely fragile objects
within the palaces. You must also be able to work at heights, and
clean, lift and move collection items on a routine basis.

The role will also include additional out of hours working at any of
our sites to supervise events and activities such as filming,
corporate functions or HRP press launches.

Although based at Hampton Court Palace you may be required to travel
to the other palaces in our care.

Closing date: 6 January 2014

Pay Range: 10
