IIC is looking for a volunteer to help allow expansion of its online
activity.  The Assistant to the IIC Webmaster is a new volunteer
role that IIC has created to act as assistant, support person and
understudy for the Webmaster in all aspects of the Webmaster's role.

IIC's Webmaster fulfils a critical role in the operations of IIC,
with the following specific tasks:

    To ensure the continued functionality of the IIC website, the
    linked WorldPay software and Congress booking and paper
    management software and other functionalities as are in
    operation at any time

    To ensure the continued security of the website's membership
    lists, financial information and linkage to the IIC office and
    the continued backing up and safe copying of the website;

    To ensure the continued operation of the various e-mail systems
    that work through the IIC website;

    To ensure the continued operation of the IIC news and social
    networking capabilities;

    To implement planned or suggested changes to the website. These
    may include:

        Uploading of publications to the IIC publications database

        Creation and management of online discussions

        Linkage to other social networking or conservation sector
        websites

        A regular electronic newsletter

        Electronic management of papers submitted to IIC
        publications and the editorial review thereof

        Changes to the appearance, content, structure, programming

        Accessibility of the IIC website

    To pursue IIC's stated policy that the IIC website will continue
    wherever possible to use free and open source non-proprietary
    software in its operation and provide and support an IIC website
    that offers easily downloadable and accessibly legible content
    to the optimum number of users across the world;

    To report on activity made and decisions taken on the website to
    IIC's Director of Communications, Secretary-General and
    Executive Secretary as required;

    To attend meetings at the IIC office in person or via remote
    conferencing as requested

Experience Required

The experience required for the Assistant to the IIC Webmaster is:

    Experience with Drupal administration and setup: Essential

    Experience with php programming: Desirable

    Experience with LAMP setup: Desirable

    Experience with cPanel: Desirable

    Experience with phpMyAdmin and SQL: Desirable

    Attention to detail, consistency of work and good communication
    skills are all essential.

The role is voluntary with expenses reimbursed when approved by
prior agreement.

The direct line manager for this role is IIC's Webmaster.  The role
will also work with the IIC's Director of Communications,
Secretary-General and Executive Secretary as directed by IIC's Web
Master.  There may be more than one such Assistant at any given
time.
