Clothworker's Conservation Internship

UKP23,360 per annum

The Clothworkers' Conservation Internship is a remarkable
opportunity for an experienced conservator to develop and broaden
their knowledge by joining one of the leading conservation teams in
the museum world. The internship is for 18 months.

This is a unique opportunity to develop expertise within your
primary area of specialism and also to cross-train in two further
specialist areas. Many contemporary artworks are made up of
materials and processes which span the traditional specialist areas
within the conservation profession. Contemporary artworks may have
multiple components with mixed and non-traditional media. With the
support of the Clothworker's' Foundation, this advanced internship
was devised to further train an experienced conservator in
supporting the conservation and display of these types of complex
artworks.

Over 18 months, the Clothworker's' Conservation Intern will learn
about gallery processes to support acquisitions, loans out,
exhibitions and displays across specialisms. They will develop
knowledge of packing and the ability to prepare works and provide
advice for the transport, installation and protection of artworks on
display. They will undertake treatments specifically selected to
develop new skills and flexible approaches. They will also assess
their own learning and experience, co-producing a report with a
Conservation Manager, making recommendations on the feasibility of
future cross-training.

This role is open to conservators with qualifications in the
Conservation of Paintings, Paper, Sculpture and Time-Based Media.
