Assistant Conservator (Survey) Windsor Castle 3 year fixed term contract (March 2014 - March 2017) UKP24,000-UKP27,500 (dependent on experience) plus benefits Closing date: 15 December 2013 The Pictures section consists of curators, conservators, specialist framers and art handlers who are responsible for the management, safety, conservation, display and interpretation of the 8,000 paintings and 3,000 miniatures within the Royal Collection. The role: Based at the Paintings Conservation Studio in Windsor, but covering all Royal residences across the UK, you will be part of the team responsible for the full condition survey of paintings and frames. This will involve: Examining paintings and establishing and maintaining accurate condition and treatment records Working in residences and stores, carrying out minor structural and surface treatments Recording environmental conditions in stores and residences and also take photographs of paintings for conservation records as required Working with colleagues in handling, wrapping and moving paintings when required The Person With moderate experience, preferably in a museum or art gallery environment, you will hold a recognised post-graduate qualification in Paintings Conservation Your interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of people will enable you to quickly build collaborative relationships You will possess sound administration and organisation skills and be able to work independently With the ability to work calmly under pressure, you will maintain the highest standards of care and conservation and With a clean driving license you will be flexible and available to travel widely across the UK, occasionally working away from home The closing date for applications is 15 December 2013.
