UKP26,000-UKP31,500 (dependent on experience) plus benefits

The Pictures section consists of curators, conservators, specialist
framers and art handlers who are responsible for the management,
safety, conservation, display and interpretation of the 8,000
paintings and 3,000 miniatures within the Royal Collection.

The role: Based at the Paintings Conservation Studio in Windsor, but
covering all Royal residences across the UK, you will be responsible
for all conservation activities relating to the short and long term
loans. This will involve:

    Examining and preparing paintings selected for external loan,
    advising on their suitability for travel and display, and
    undertaking necessary conservation treatments;

    Working closely with the Framing and Exhibitions Conservator to
    ensure pictures moves are handled to the highest standards, that
    external couriers are supervised and that salvage teams are
    appropriately trained and briefed;

    Working alongside the Paintings Survey Team to assist with a
    full condition survey of the paintings in the Royal Collection,
    and on occasion, supervising the Survey Conservator; and

    Supporting the Structural Conservator with recording
    environmental conditions in stores and areas within the Royal
    Residences

The Person:

    With significant relevant experience, preferably in a museum or
    gallery environment, you will ideally hold a recognised
    post-graduate qualification in Paintings Conservation

    Your interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range
    of people, will enable you to quickly build collaborative
    relationships

    You will possess strong administration, organisation and
    planning skills

    With the ability to work calmly under pressure, you will
    maintain the highest standards of care and conservation

    With a clean driving license you will be flexible and available
    to travel widely across the UK, occasionally working away from
    home

The closing date for applications is 1 December 2013. Interviews
will take place at Windsor in January 2014, with a view to the
appointment commencing in early/mid-March 2014.
