Head of Preventive Conservation unit Archaeological Service of Canton Bern, Switzerland 80% FTE Working languages are German and French. As Head of the preventive conservation unit you are responsible for the care and management of all archaeological finds, those freshly delivered from excavations as well as the archaeological collections previously stored in our large depot. The find inventory and registering of new entries takes place under your supervision, you coordinate all logistic movements of finds and collections including loans for exhibition purposes. Monitoring of the collections and the storage areas are your chief tasks as well as looking after various showcases open to the public. You lead a team of 3 people in the archaeological conservation Department. You bring a Masters Degree in Conservation/Preventive Conservation or an equivalent degree or education. You already have experience in the caring and monitoring of archaeological collections as well as in the planing and conducting of projects. We expect you to have practical knowledge in the preservation of archaeological in-situ remains. You like to work in an interdisciplinary atmosphere, enjoy responsibilities, take initiatives and have an energetic temperament.
