Willman Spawn Internship in Paper Conservation American Philosophical Society Library The Library of the American Philosophical Society (APS) is pleased announce our annual competition for the Willman Spawn Internship in Paper Conservation. The 11 month internship begins in September 2014. The APS Library is a major national center for research in the history of the sciences, medicine, and technology. With its roots extending back to the founding of the Society in 1743, it houses over 300,000 volumes and bound periodicals, eight million manuscripts, and 100,000 images. The conservation lab is located in the historic district of Center City Philadelphia. Internship projects will include: conservation treatment of works on paper, environmental monitoring, rehousing of manuscript materials, and review of loan requests. Special interests or specific goals of the intern are encouraged as part of the learning experience. A $7,000.00 stipend is provided to assist with travel and research.
