2014 Summer Internships

The Conservation Unit at the National Air and Space Museum is
offering two summer internships for 2014. The internships will be
conducted at the Emil Buehler Conservation Laboratory at the Udvar
Hazy Center, located in Chantilly, VA. Two, 10-week positions are
available for students currently enrolled in a recognized
conservation training programs. The interns will assist the NASM
conservation unit in a variety of tasks and projects throughout the
summer including photo-documentation, condition examinations,
surveys, gallery installations and treatment of complex, composite
objects. The interns will have access to a variety of analytical
equipment, including a portable FTIR, portable XRF, Hirox 3-D
digital microscope, stereo-microscopes, and potential access to
equipment available at the Museum Conservation Institute.

Interns are encouraged to devise their own research proposal aligned
with NASM's collections or to assist with ongoing research projects.

to obtain a list of on-going research priorities or to submit a
proposal.

Summer 2014- Specific dates to be determined

Funded amount: $5,500.00 available for each intern

Deadline for application: February 15, 2014
