UKP25,000 plus benefits

The Pictures section consists of curators, conservators, specialist
framers and art handlers who are responsible for the management,
safety, conservation, display and interpretation of the 8,000
paintings and 3,000 miniatures within the Royal Collection.

Based at the Paintings Conservation Studio in Windsor, but covering
all Royal residences across the UK, you will be responsible for
picture handling, maintenance and presentation. This will involve:

    Framing oil paintings, employing suitable conservation and
    framing techniques to support the conservation and exhibition
    programme;

    Drawing up detailed frame diagrams and framing records,
    assessing the condition of frames, and determining the correct
    treatment in conjunction gilders/carvers;

    The training, development and supervision of Royal Household
    colleagues and salvage teams in relation to Picture handling;

    The organisation and implementation of painting movement
    programmes, involving extensive stakeholder and administration
    management; and

    Representing the paintings section at planning meetings with
    internal and external stakeholders.

The Person

    With relevant conservation and framing experience, you will
    ideally hold a professional qualification in an Arts based
    subject;

    You will possess strong administration, organisation and
    planning skills and the ability to work to deadlines;

    You will have excellent IT skills and be familiar with
    collections management databases, in order to edit content and
    maintain up-to-date records;

    Your interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range
    of people, will enable you to quickly build collaborative
    relationships;

    With a clean driving license and the ability to drive a van, you
    will be flexible and available to travel widely across the UK,
    occasionally working away from home.

Interviews will take place at Windsor in January 2014, with a view
to the appointment commencing in early/mid-March 2014.
