First Call for Papers Conference Technology and Practice: Studying 18th-Century Paintings and Art on Paper. This call for Papers and Posters is for a two-day Technical Art History conference to be held at CATS at Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK) on 2-3 June 2014. The conference will be focusing on artists' techniques and materials, source research, conservation science, the history of science and technology, history of trade, and pharmacy during the 18th century and explore tradition and changes in artistic practices seen in the light of the establishment of a series of national Art Academies in Europe throughout the century. Themes for presentations could take their point of departure in: Workshop practice and materials: art historical and technical approaches to documentary evidence Art historical and technical examination and analysis of paintings and drawings Issues of trading, supply and questions of demand Please submit title and abstract of up to maximum 500 words for oral and/or poster presentations.
