We regularly store our microscope slides in polypropylene slide
cases that stack five standard glass slides to a case with room
above and below each. They can be found on the McCrone Microscope
and Accessories website as a pack of 12 for $10. (that's 60 slides).
The main reason we use them is so there is no contact with any
material on the slide (sample, mounting media) with any other
material. We do not know how the boxes would hold up over long-term
storage.
