Paintings Conservator The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design Oslo <URL:http://www.nasjonalmuseet.no> Full time permanent position Salary: NOK 421.100 518.500 p.a. We are seeking an experienced paintings conservator to work within our paintings conservation team. The National Museum houses Norway's finest paintings collection with approximately 7000 works dating from medieval period to the present day. Responsibilities: the assessment and documentation of the paintings collection. Preventive treatments. Conservation and restoration treatments. Preparation, reporting and travelling with the collection on loan. Involvement in research on the paintings in the collection, working in collaboration with the curatorial departments and national and international institutions. Qualifications: we are looking for a well qualified individual with a Masters, or equivalent post graduate qualification in the conservation of easel paintings. Minimum, one year experience working with the conservation of easel paintings. Knowledge, skills and abilities: possess excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in a team oriented environment and with a wide range of individuals. High level of experience and practical skills treating and stabilizing a broad range of paintings. Demonstrate good analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to plan and execute your own work programme. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in either Norwegian or English. Good end user IT skills and relevant experience working in the museum sector. Interest and participation in research projects is desirable.
