Subject: Low-pressure book wedge
As a post-graduate student book conservation at the University of Amsterdam I am currently working on my thesis regarding the treatment of iron-gall ink damage in bound manuscripts. In light of this research I would like to pose the following questions to Cons DistList readers involved in book and paper conservation (and related subjects) who have experience with the use of low-pressure book wedges: Do you own, or does the institution you work for own a low-pressure book wedge? For what purpose was it bought? Is it in use now, and what is it/has it been used for? How often would you say you use it? What is your experience with this device, is it practical, does it meet expectations? What type do you use?
