Balboa Art Conservation Center (BACC)

The Balboa Art Conservation Center (BACC), an active regional center
in San Diego, California serving 18 member museums, non-member
museums, and private clients, seeks a Conservator of Paintings. BACC
is located in San Diego's beautiful Balboa Park, the nation's
largest urban cultural park, which is home to 15 museums, as well as
performing arts venues, gardens, and the San Diego Zoo.  BACC
conservators work with all types of paintings, as well as painted
and gilded surfaces including polychrome sculpture. Paintings
treated range from old master to modern and contemporary.  This
variety reflects BACC's relationships with both museums and private
collectors.

The painting department seeks to add a third painting conservator to
its staff which is supported by a preparator/frame conservation
technician. The paintings conservation staff performs services in
examination, treatment, analysis, and on-site surveys of
collections.  Other duties may include on-site treatments, lectures,
and educational outreach.  Some travel may be involved.  BACC has a
long-standing graduate and post-graduate training program, and the
department may include interns at various levels.  For further

The Conservator of Paintings is a full-time staff position and
requires a degree from a recognized conservation training program.
Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum of 5 years of
experience.  The position offers full benefits and salary
