Subject: Equipment for photodocumentation
>Our Preservation Lab is in the process of upgrading the cameras and >lighting equipment that we use to document our book treatments. We >are hoping to get advice on the best camera and lighting equipment >to purchase as well as recommendations from others on equipment that >they use and like or equipment that they use and don't like and why. We recently purchased a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, which we use attached to a copy stand and tethered (via a very long USB cord) to a computer in the photo studio for easy remote shooting using the Canon EOS Utility software that came with the camera. That system is working really well so far. We have several lenses for the camera, but usually use a 24-70 mm zoom lens. We have four LED light panels for studio lighting. My primary advice would be to get a setup that enables remote shooting from a copystand--it makes life so much easier.
