Subject: Epigraphic squeezes
Cornell University Library has recently acquired a collection of roughly 200 epigraphic paper "squeezes," layered paper impressions of Hittite inscriptions from monuments. These items are on their way to the conservation lab for treatment and housing. They have been previously stored stacked in cardboard boxes and overall, they are heavily soiled. We are looking for recommendations from other institutions with similar collections regarding treatment (cleaning and mending) and the most beneficial way to store these items considering space and concern for their raised impressions.
