Subject: Course on preventive conservation
Preventive Conservation 2014 A hands-on study experience from the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation January 20-31, 2014 Ossabaw Island, Georgia This is a unique opportunity to study and apply preventive conservation techniques in a historic house on a wilderness barrier island off the coast of Savannah, Georgia. Six participants will join six project leaders for this in-depth experience at the Torrey West House on Ossabaw Island. The island is reachable only by chartered boat, and participants will bring supplies and food from the mainland. The course is intended for anyone managing a historic property, and it has been popular with emerging professionals in the field. There is no registration fee. The six selected participants will provide their own round trip transportation to Savannah, Georgia and food for meals. Each participant will receive a small stipend toward these expenses. The Ossabaw Island Foundation and FAIC will provide boat transportation to the island, hotel lodging in Savannah on the night of Saturday, January 19, 2014 and lodging January 20-31, 2014 in the historic "Clubhouse" maintained by the Ossabaw Island Foundation.
